How thick are the layers of material in 3D printers?

For plastic, Sculpteo has two layer thicknesses available. A standard thickness of between 100 - 150µm and a higher definition layer thickness of 60µm (the 60µm is only available on the White SLS plastic).

The polyamide objects we 3D print have an average precision of ± 0.3 mm for pieces under 100 mm and a global precision of ± 0.3% for pieces 100 mm or larger.

For metal, Sculpteo offers different layer thicknesses, depending on the material you choose. Layer thickness is 150 µm for aluminum, 30 µm for titanium and 40 µm for stainless steel.
